Diablo burnout. What solutions exist?
There's been a lot of good posts lately about loot 2.0 and the way it can be improved for the long run.
One thing that has been often missed, however, is the idea of burnout when it comes to Diablo.
This game has been played quite excessively in the short period since ROS. There really needs to be incentives to pace out the game play and give people options to improve without grinding the same content excessively.
I think that it would be great if they introduce a daily quest or weekly achievement/quest with greater options for reward. With a weekly achievement, the developers could require a certain amount of content to be cleared, and then offer a reward with some choice. A great way for this reward system to take effect would be to offer the player their choice of 3 (or more) random legendaries. That way, the player can pick past the undesirable legendaries and pick one that caters to their build.
Does it completely solve the concept of Diablo burnout? Not exactly. However, if I knew I could sign on once or twice a week for a shorter period of time and have a decent chance at improving my character, I'd prefer that over grinding the same context excessively.
One thing is for sure, without some changes, Diablo 3 will become a grind-fest of the same content, and that simply isn't the characteristics of a long-standing game.
Anyone else have ideas to counteract the Diablo burnout?
